Outcomes-Based Education at Rensselaer

The Rensselaer Student Learning Assessment Plan outlines the infrastructure, processes, and resources supported by Rensselaer that facilitate the use of student learning assessment data in “closing the loop.” This plan is instrumental in successfully identifying learning outcomes, analyzing course/program delivery for achievement of learning outcomes, directly and indirectly assessing learning outcomes, and providing necessary support to continually assess courses and programs.

Based on best practices for teaching, learning, and assessment, the Rensselaer Student Learning Assessment Plan emerged as a guide in 2005 to help shape organizational structures and processes with respect to assessment of student learning. It guides the efforts of each school, program, department, and faculty member as they prepare to participate in an Institute-wide assessment of student learning. The plan was revised in 2013.
