MISSION STATEMENT
- The primary mission of the Office of Student Learning and Assessment is to collaborate with faculty in conducting educational research to improve the quality and assessment of student learning outcomes. Our goal is to create a cross-campus forum for all those who engage in teaching and assessment activities.
- The office will provide information and expertise and will encourage the exchange of ideas, including how to set student learning outcomes and curriculum goals that support courses, programs, and the Rensselaer experience.
- The Office of Student Learning and Assessment will provide faculty development and assistance activities related to the integration of assessment strategies into the curriculum. The main purpose is to assist faculty improve their teaching practice by grounding it is scholarship and help view student assessment as an integral part of the learning experience. In addition, will provide useful information concerning expectations for assessment, including those related to regional accreditation, across the institution.
- We also provide assistance for Teaching Assistants by offering workshops and individual consultations to help improve their skills and help them be part of a working teaching team.
