Call for Faculty Reflective Pedagogy Fellows – Applications due April 11th

A key strategic goal of the Rensselaer Forward plan is to “Create a robust and holistic learning community.” Inquiry-based learning and creativity are key elements toward achieving that goal. The Gameful and Immersive Learning Teams invite interested faculty to apply to redesign one of their courses (or an element of their course) to align with this important Institute goal. Following the successful spring 2024 Innovative Pedagogy Fellows initiative, the Office of Undergraduate Education is capitalizing on this momentum by funding a professional development opportunity for a new cohort of fellows in 2025, the Reflective Pedagogy Fellows.

Each fellow will propose a class that they intend to work on, with the goal of having a redesign plan for one Fall course by the end of the summer. If accepted, they will join in a mandatory, intensive 2-day Summer Institute May 5-6. The initial 2-day workshop sessions (tentative schedule below) would provide the foundation for their course redesign and would include time for gathering with like-minded faculty cohorts (on a voluntary basis), as well as scheduling two additional drop-in coaching sessions during the summer (informal but led by the workshop coaches). Finally, fellows would be required to attend two follow-up lunches–one before the Fall semester starts and one after the semester has ended–so that coaches can track progress, provide mutual feedback, and continue the process of fostering a community of teaching and learning at RPI.
